Aged Care Services
Discover Support, Compassion And Understanding When You Need It Most
“To care for those who once cared for us is one of the highest honors.”
- Tia Walker
Ageing can be challenging as it brings with it a range of health issues, mobility issues and social challenges.
You don’t move quite as easily or as fast as you used to, and your support circle may be shrinking for a variety of reasons.
If you are feeling lonely, socially isolated, or challenged for other reasons, we are here to help you.
Our Aged Care Team provides support and services for our older culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) migrant communities.
We are dedicated to delivering culturally appropriate and responsive services for migrant older persons and those with a disability — and their carers.
We also collaborate with relevant organisations and the government toward improving access and equity for aged care and other support services for people from diverse backgrounds.
So, no matter what your challenge is at this time of your life, our Aged Care Team is here to help you through it.
Social Support Program (SSP)
Do you know that we also offer a range of programs to help you exercise and stay connected socially?
Through our SSP program you can join in fantastic social activities such as:
- Gentle exercise
- Music
- Quizzes
- Interesting discussions (you can even suggest topics that you love to talk about)
- Craft
- Gardening
- Social outings
Like we keep saying, we are here for you and our SSP program is designed to enhance and maintain your daily living skills and independence in the community.
Home and Community Care (HACC PYP) and Volunteer Coordination Social Support Program
Would you love for someone to come to your home on a regular basis to visit you and spend time with you?
We have the most wonderful volunteers who are matched to you. We ensure that they’re a good fit for your age, gender and your culture and that you’re happy to spend time with them.
We facilitate friendly visits to the elderly from CALD backgrounds — through our HACC Volunteer Coordination Social Support Program.
We can also help out with occasional transport assistance, telephone monitoring, and social and recreational activities.
You can be assured that our volunteers are provided with support and training on a regular basis.
Access and Support Program
At MRC NWR, we have a range of projects aimed at improving access to aged care services, particularly home and community care.
Our programs help older individuals, disabled adults, and caregivers — offering short-term support to individuals who face obstacles accessing age-related services.
We closely work with service providers in:
- Improving culturally responsive services
- Reducing linguistic and cultural barriers that minority groups can face.
